Former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha on Thursday launched the ‘Gandhi Shanti Yatra’ in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) National Citizenship Register (NPR). The 3000 km long journey from Mumbai’s Gateway of India was flagged off by NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
Prakash Ambedkar and other leaders of the deprived Bahujan Aghadi participated in the visit. The yatra will pass through several states demanding the withdrawal of the former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha CAA and a judicial inquiry by the current Supreme Court judge of ‘government-sponsored violence’ like Delhi’s JNU attack.
Various organizations, including farmer organizations, expected to participate in the yatra. Sinha was present at the press conference along with former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan, former MP Shatrughan Sinha and Congress leader Ashish Deshmukh from Vidarbha.
