Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Kolkata on Saturday on a two-day visit to Raj Bhavan at around 4:20 pm. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee welcomed him here. Governor Jagdeep Dhankar and his wife Sudesh Dhankar were also present on occasion.
Along with the Chief Minister, his cabinet colleagues also reached Raj Bhavan. On the other hand, CPI and Congress workers protested at Hastings turn, some distance away from Raj Bhavan. The protesters raised slogans against JNU violence, Amended Citizenship Act, NRC, NPR. Among the protesters are former CPI (M) MP Mohammad Salim. He has satirized the meeting of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said here on Sunday that the year 2020 is not only a new year but a new decade that will further strengthen the participation of youth in nation-building.
Addressing the people who attended the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda at Belur Math today, the Prime Minister said that his government has accepted the challenges of the past several decades and has strengthened new paths to step up with technology.
There was a gathering of people and saints on this birth anniversary of Swamiji in this historic Belur Math situated on the banks of river Ganges. Before his address, the Prime Minister worshiped at the Ramakrishna Temple here and met the monks. He said that coming to Belur Math is like coming home. Thankful to the Government of West Bengal. He said that public service is God’s service.
During his address, he said that many times people feel, they think what will happen to me alone. But, we are never alone; the form of God is always with us. Recalling the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, Prime Minister Modi said that Swami Vivekananda used to say during slavery that if I get 100 energetic youth, I will change India. Today we have crores of active youth.
The Prime Minister said that digital payment seemed impossible four-five years ago, but the youth realized it. 2020 is not only a new year but also a new decade. The resolutions have to be linked with the decade and be associated with dedication.
