On Thursday, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Minister of State for Finance, Dr Himanta Vishwasharma met at the residence of the Union Home Minister in New Delhi amid protests in the state over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Amit Shah assured all possible help from the Center to keep law and order of the state under control. On the other hand, also informed the Union Home Minister about the preparations for the Khelo India Youth Game to be held from January 10 to 22, and how the state government has prepared for its security.
It is noteworthy that during the ongoing movements against the CAA, several national and international programs are going to organised in Assam. These include the Games India Youth Game, the India-Japan Summit and the Film Awards ceremony.
To make these events successful, the state government has given full strength on its part. However, the India-Japan summit cancelled due to the agitation against the CAA.
